Season 2004

18 Dec 2004
No fixture as Seend United Reserve conceed the second leg. Willcox notches another goal for sister club Filos F.C. in their 5-2 victory against Crown & Anchor Reserves.

11 Dec 2004
An even later show as an exquisite second goal from Willcox in the 89th minute gives us a slim 2-1 lead to take back home for the second leg. A couple of superb saves from the returning McGonigle keep us in a game which was pretty even throughout with good performances all round.

04 Dec 2004
Another late show as Willcox, Barker and Austin all blow good chances in the 1st half before Barker cracks a great effort to put us 1 up. Poor defending from Tabiner and a dreadful own goal from Bryant help Steeple Ashton to draw level at 2-2 with 10 minutes to go. Goals from White & Barker help us to scrape through.

04 Dec 2004
Solar Thermal Director Paul Brimble presents us with our new sponsored kit.

27 Nov 2004
A cracking 80th minute 30 yard pile driver from Tabiner completes our comeback from 1 down and sends us through to the 3rd Round of the Fox Leisure cup.

20 Nov 2004
Another 3-0 win against Castle Combe Reserves – this time in the cup on a freezing cold day at Stanley Park. A good all round perfromance from everyone in the team although the score should have been much higher.

13 Nov 2004
A disjointed performance with spells of decent play. We take the lead mid way through the 1st half but then sit back and are duly punished with 2 goals from Heytesbury. A storming finish results in a very late equaliser and extra time cannot separate the clsoely matched sides.

06 Nov 2004
Back to winning ways with 3-0 win at home v Castle Combe Reserves. Willcox marks his recent return to the side with a superb goal as does Andy Davis.

30 Oct 2004
Somerset cup match finally goes ahead at the 3rd time of asking and with very disappointing results. We field a side that was weakened but should have been good enough to win but we lose 2-0 to a Congresbury side the could best be described as average. A number of missed chances by both teams in an even but dour game. A good defensive performance by Tiley and the return of Willcox from a 2 month injury lay off are the highlights but overall some major improvements needed. Many of the “senior” players wanted to do well in the county cup & we’ve lost to a team that is unlikley to go much farther in the competition. Gutted!

23 Oct 2004
Somerset Intermediate Cup 1st round match V Congresbury Reserves postponed for a second time due to waterlogged pitch. Willcox scores 2 for sister club Filos F.C. in first game back from long standing ankle injury.

16 Oct 2004
Somerset Intermediate Cup 1st round match V Congresbury Reserves postponed due to waterlogged pitch.

09 Oct 2004
The return match with Seend Reserves and another fiery match with Tony Hulbert injured (ankle (another one!)) following a late Seend tackle (another one!). By the end of the game 4 players have been sent off (3 Seend players & Andy Davis on his debut for C.S. Filos). Not a classic but we get back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory.

02 Oct 2004
Our first defeat of the season. The pain! Poor marking at fault as a useful Westbury side take the few chances they have to rattle in 4 goals. Despite the poor defending, once again we create and waste enough chances to win the game comfortably.

25 Sep 2004
Bliss scores first ever goal at the new Stanley Park as we beat Calne Eagles 1-0 with a drab and dour performance. Defence looked good though.

22 Sep 2004
More injury woes as Lawrence (ankle) and McGonigle (finger) ruled out for 6-8 weeks joining Willcox (ankle) on the sick list.

17 Sep 2004
Our first genuine home game of the season sees the Sulis Club pitch looking like Wembley! We do our best to compliment the quality of the pitch by playing our best football so far in a comprehensive 2-0 win over Broughton Gifford Reserves which could have been 6 or 7 but for a host of missed chances and good saves by their keeper.

12 Sep 2004
Former Westgate, Civil Service & Aces midfield wizard, Andy Davies signs for C.S. Filos.

11 Sep 2004
Disappointment as an improved 2nd half performance against a lack lustre Castle Combe Reserves is wasted as poor midfield discipline results in a last minute deflected equaliser.

09 Sep 2004
An improved performance as CS Filos gain 2-1 victory in a tight match with The Lamb Inn.

04 Sep 2004
Some frustrating refereeing decisions feature in our debut game in the Trowbridge League as 2 CS Filos players sent off whilst
Seend players are not punished for what appear to be similar offences. Willcox out for at least 4 weeks following an unpunished and brutal
late tackle. However, despite losing our centre forward to injury and 2 players to red cards we manage to scrap to a 2-1 victory with goals from
Walter & Weeks and a good performance from Vowles. However, football is all about opinions and in the spirit of balanced reporting why not visit
rollasmoke.com if you want to view the referees match report.

31 Aug 2004
A real step up in class evident against Rudloe as last seasons Division 1 runners up gives us a footballing lesson. Goals from Dillon Macdonald, Jimmy Vowles and Johnny Cooper lighten the gloom.

26 Aug 2004
Our second pre season friendly ends in a 0-0 draw with McGonigle saving a penalty and Jazz Sports spurning a number of chances.

19 Aug 2004
An encouraging first outing as C.S. Filos beat Semmington 1-0 in pre-season friendly match.

17 Aug 2004
Friendly vs Rudloe postponed.
