Bath Civil Service F.C. was formed in the 1950s and played in various leagues
before entering a reserve team into the Bath & District Football League in 1974. The
first team relinquished their senior status and joined the reserves in the Bath & District
in 1978, playing in the 1st and 2nd Divisions between 1978 and 2000.
The club yo-yo'd between the 1st & 2nd divisions of the Bath & District League before assembling
a formidable young side in 1990 which immediately won promotion from the
2nd Division and went on to consistently challenge for honours during the 1990s. This team established
a reputation as an excellent cup team reaching numerous finals and semi-finals throughout
the decade.
During the 90s the team won the Steve Fear Cup (1996) & the Bath City Knock Out Cup (1991)
to add to the 2nd Division championship (1991). However, the team were denied either the 1st Division
Championship (Runners Up 1998,1997,1995,1993) or a Cup Final victory (Runners Up 1998,1997,1995,1993)
a staggering eight times by the emergence of Westgate as the most successful side in the 100 year history
of the Bath & District League.
The break up and decline of the 1990s side led the teams withdrawl from the 1st Division at the end of 1998/99. The "Reserve"
team took on the mantle of Bath Civil Service but were relegated from Division 2 at the end of season 1999/00. In an effort to
rebuild the side, the club merged with the embryonic Filos F.C. in the summer of 2000 and the re-named Civil Service Filos F.C. took
its place in the 3rd Division of the Bath & District league for the following season. The merger proved to be a great success as
the club gained immediate promotion back into Division 2 and won the Chronicle Cup in that season. The following year the team
consolidated itself with a mid-table finish in the 2nd Division and then added the Division 2 championship to the trophy cabinet for
a 3rd time in 2002/03.
After a disappointing 2003/04 season the club moved to the Trowbridge & District league for 1 season (2004/05), finishing runners up in
Division 2 and winning the Taylor Kitchens Cup before moving back to the Bath & District league for season 2005/06, where the club immediately
demonstrated it's cup pedigree once again by reaching the final of the Steve Fear Cup for a 3rd time.
The following season (2006/07) the club took a gamble and entered a Reserve side
(the "A" Team) into the 3rd Division. The gamble paid off as the club experienced one of the best seasons in it's 50 year history. The 1st Team
secured the Division 2 championship for a 4th time (a post war record) whilst the Reserve Team won the club's first ever Division 3 championship
along with reaching the final of the Chronicle Cup.
